Privacy Policy

1. Overview
ECP Smart Product FAQ & Schema ("the App") is developed and operated by eCommerce Partners ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you install and use the App on your Shopify store.
By installing the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
Merchant & Store Data
When you install the App, we collect and store:
- Your Shopify store domain
- An encrypted Shopify access token (used to communicate with the Shopify API on your behalf)
- Your billing plan and subscription status
- App settings and preferences (FAQ display style, confidence threshold, selected data fields, section heading)
Product Data
To generate FAQs, we access and store:
- Product titles, handles, and descriptions
- Product type, vendor, and tags
- Product images (URL only)
- Custom metafields (only those you explicitly select on the Data Fields page)
Usage & Generation Data
We log the following for billing, debugging, and quality purposes:
- FAQ generation events (timestamp, AI model used, token counts, estimated cost, success/failure, duration)
- Bulk generation job status and progress
Theme Extension Activity
We record timestamps when your storefront's FAQ accordion or schema injector blocks call our app proxy. This is used solely to confirm your theme extension is active — no visitor data is captured.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No customer PII: We do not collect, store, or process any personal data about your store's customers (names, emails, addresses, order history, etc.)
- No payment data: Billing is handled entirely by Shopify's billing platform
- No browsing or behavioral tracking
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the data collected to:
- Authenticate your store and maintain your session
- Sync your product catalog and generate AI-powered FAQs
- Serve FAQ content and JSON-LD schema to your storefront via the app proxy
- Enforce plan limits and track regeneration usage
- Improve the App and diagnose errors
5. Third-Party Services
Shopify
We interact with the Shopify Admin GraphQL API to read product data and write metafields. Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify's Privacy Policy.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Product data you have selected (titles, descriptions, metafields, etc.) is sent to Anthropic's API to generate FAQs. Anthropic processes this data as a sub-processor. No customer PII is included in these requests. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Fly.io
The App and its database are hosted on Fly.io infrastructure in the United States (Newark, NJ). See Fly.io's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Storage & Security
- All Shopify access tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption
- All data is stored on Fly.io's managed PostgreSQL infrastructure
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only
- App proxy requests are validated using HMAC signatures on every request
7. Data Retention
Your store's data (products, FAQs, settings, logs) is retained for as long as the App is installed on your store. When you uninstall the App, we process a shop/redact webhook from Shopify and permanently delete your shop record along with all associated products, FAQs, and generation logs within 48 hours.
8. GDPR & Merchant Compliance
The App is compliant with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhook requirements:
- Customer data requests — We store no customer PII and will acknowledge all requests
- Customer data erasure — We store no customer PII and will acknowledge all requests
- Shop data erasure — All shop data is permanently deleted upon uninstall
If you are a merchant subject to GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations, please note that the App does not process any end-customer personal data.
9. Your Rights
As a merchant using the App, you may:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about your store
- Request deletion of your store's data at any time by uninstalling the App or contacting us directly
- Update your preferences and settings at any time within the App
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
